We’re thrilled to announce that one of our logos has made it into the coveted 11th edition of the LogoLounge book series.
Competing against over 35,000 logos from 68 countries, our Geek Hub symbol – crafted by our creative director Luis Munoz Jean Baptiste – was highlighted a one of LogoLounge’s ‘best of the best’.
“It was a huge honour to make it onto this list,” says Luis, who is a member of the LogoLounge network. This competition is judged by some of the top designers in the world and everyone wants to be part of the final few. We are excited to be included among the winners, as we always strive to be at the forefront of design trends.”
The Branding Identity group’s logo for Geek Hub – a mobile and tech repair company, and providers of server setup and network connections, video surveillance, and gaming hub – was inspired by the organisation’s desire to blend three sides of its personality: a love for technology, being cool, and playing video, board and card games.
When he was contemplating the design of the logo, Luis found himself thinking about the fictional cartoon character Mr Magoo and his googly eyes. He chose to highlight the fact that Geek Hub is very much a hub for its clients, and he wanted to represent their role as a connector. This led him to think of PacMan, a character in the game he played as a child, and the way his eyes would dart around as he moved to face the direction he was going in. He then found himself creating the eye motif you see here, moving around in a constant loop.
The finished result is ‘geeky’ enough to show the tech side aspect of Geek Hub, but relatable enough to identify it as a crucial connector for its clients.
Now, Bureau 105 is pleased that Luis’ design will feature in the book. ”
“It’s a proud moment because I am very passionate about designing logos,” Luis says. “It is a very rewarding aspect of design, as the result will often characterise the company in question for many years to come, and will become its key visual representation.”
Bureau 105 is a logo creation specialist based in Malta and operating internationally. The firm also provides services related to graphic design, structural engineering design, interior design, architecture and project management.
