Assassin's Creed

This project sits at the intersection of cinema, risk, and movement.

Our work focused on designing structures that could be climbed, crossed, and challenged—transforming historic architecture into an active participant in the film’s action.

Tasked with the structural certification of heritage sites for Assassin’s Creed, Bureau 105 ensured that history and high-intensity filmmaking could coexist. Set across Malta’s limestone rooftops—including the historic National Library in Valletta and the formidable Fort Ricasoli—these locations weren’t designed for the weight of film crews, let alone combat sequences and high-impact stunts.

Our challenge? Reinforce these historic structures without compromising their authenticity. The traditional limestone roofs, never intended for such dynamic loads, required careful assessment and strengthening. Every leap, clash, and rooftop pursuit demanded a balance between safety and preservation. We engineered solutions that discreetly enhanced load-bearing capacities, ensuring both the crew and the structures remained secure, all while respecting centuries-old craftsmanship.

For Assassin’s Creed, it wasn’t just about making action possible—it was about making it seamless. Bureau 105’s work ensured that the film’s intense sequences played out on real heritage sites, preserving the tangible, visceral connection between story and setting. The result? A production where innovation upheld tradition, allowing history and structures to take centre stage—safely, and spectacularly.
